Keith Richards almost cancelled a concert because of a shepherd's pie.

Former Stereophonics drummer Stuart Cable - who supported The Rolling Stones on a European tour - was amazed when the band's frontman Sir Mick Jagger warned him he was in trouble for helping himself to a portion of the mashed potato-topped treat before Keith had eaten.

Stuart revealed in his new book 'Demons and Cocktails': "I whacked several hefty spoonfuls onto my plate. Mick Jagger came in and stopped in his tracks and the pleasantness suddenly left his face, 'Who's eating that?' /how to play the guitar/

"He said, 'Do you know the rules? You never, ever, take the shepherd's pie unless Keith's broken the crust first.' He twirled on his heels and said jokingly, 'Enjoy the show, boys. If there will be a show. I'm not sure if he'll go on after this.' At least I thought it was a joke."
Desperate to avoid a disaster, Stuart was ordered to take the pie back to the canteen to be "recrusted". /how to play the guitar/

He explained: "Luckily, when I got to catering I knew the waitress. She took it back and shook her head slowly and muttered, 'Don't you know the rules?'
But she soon went to work on it and re-laid the potato topping making it as good as new, even if it was a little thinner. Major world disaster averted."
Despite his attempts to conceal the pilfered pie, Stuart was confronted by Keith after the show.

He added: "Later that night we were invited to play pool with them. Suddenly Keith stopped the game in mid-stroke. The lines on his face were more prominent than normal. Then he potted the yellow, placed his cue down and wandered over to me, a joint dangling on the edge of his lips. 'You ate my shepherd's pie, didn't you?' he whispered." /how to play the guitar/

Wolfmother return with new track

WOLFMOTHER are about to return with a new line-up and a brand new track.



The band announced last August that they had effectively split up, after bassist and keyboard player Chris Ross left due to "irreconcilable personal and musical differences". /how to play the guitar/

But and guitarist Andrew Stockdale vowed to continue under the Wolfmother name with a new line-up.

And today they released a download of a new track called Back Round, available from today on Wolfmother.com.

Although the track is free, the band are encouraging fans to donate to the Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal at redcross.org.au. /how to play the guitar/

The new look band debuted the track last Friday (March 27) at the MTV Australia Music Awards in Sydney.

This was the second gig with his new line up consisting of Schofield, keyboardsman Jonny Henderson, Jeff 'The Funk’ Walker on bass and Alain Baudry on drums and the months since I saw them at Dingwalls last year have brought on a radical improvement in their sound - in the words of one of the crowd last night 'tighter than a freakin’ facelift!’.
To put it simply they were superb. Every time I thought that they had hit some sort of peak in the music, they took it on to another slope and reached a higher climax. They stretched every song to its maximum and every number showed onec again why the introduction of Jeff Walker’s bass and the New Orleans drumming of Alain Baudry had freed both Schofield and Henderson to play more intense music and music that was even more soulful than the brand that they have been peddling for the last few years. /how to play the guitar/

Whether it was a seff-penned number like 'Betting Man’ from the new album 'Heads Tails & Aces’ or one of Freddie King’s classics, 'Crossing The River’ the interplay between all four musicians was an example of how damn good British Blues can be when there isn’t any bullshit in the way.

The numbers from the new album were mixed in with a good selection of Schofield’s older material and the funk factor was there all through but came to a peak on The Meters 'People Say’ which turned into a funk ridden jam that Little Feat would have been proud of.
So many gigs seem to feature the earnest and, frankly, dull Blues that have become commonplace and hearing a band that enjoys the variety of Jazz and loves to funk it up makes a cold and wet Thursday in March a much brighter and happier place. /how to play the guitar/

Kelly Osbourne 'cracked-out housewife'

Kelly Osbourne says marriage will make her a "cracked-out housewife".
The 24-year-old star - who recently completed a stint in an Oregon rehab clinic where she was treated for an addiction to painkillers - is planning a long engagement to her fiance Luke Worrall, 19, as she thinks the pressure of married life could prove too much.

Green Day announce album release date
